About me
My name is Deanna Burns and I am an artist. I have graduated from the University of South Wales with an Upper Second Class Honours BA in Animation, specialising in concept art.
I enjoy and practise different art styles, and am always eager to learn and improve on my skills. With this in mind, I have displayed a wider range of different works I’ve created on this website.
I am a lover of media, especially film and games; my interest is mostly around the characters, narrative, and the art style. With games, while I enjoy playing a number of games, I often find I prefer watching and enjoying somebody else play them, especially if the gameplay is not as appealing, but the art style or narrative intrigues me. For example, I love horror games, as well as horror films, but only if I’m watching from behind a pillow and somebody else has to navigate through it.

How did I get here?
I've always enjoyed being creative and have taken influence from a variety of artists, especially those specialising in macabre styles. As a teenager, I started to experiment with makeup, including face painting, and special effects. From this, I later started a part-time course at college, a course in theatrical and production makeup, while studying in sixth form. I gained a merit in makeup, which led me to studying a foundation in art at the University of South Wales (Glamorgan), Treforest. I specialised in animation and received a merit, which in turn led me to animation in USW, Cardiff, for a BA (hons) degree. In these last three years, I learnt to draw and paint digitally, the principles and basics of animation, learnt software I hadn't touched before, and how to work with tighter deadlines and greater workloads.
I enjoyed my time in university, and now I am excited to continue my learning with a new challenge in a working environment.
